The Buffalo Niagara Convention & Visitors Bureau and the Buffalo Swimkins are pleased to announce that Buffalo Niagara has been selected to host the United States Synchronized Swimming’s 2005 Esynchro National Age Group Championships. The events will take place at ECC’s Burt Flickinger Center from June 24 to July 3, 2005.
“Buffalo successfully bid against Seattle, Washington and Central Florida for this impressive piece of business,” said Chuck Giglia, CVB amateur sports sales manager. “Buffalo Niagara’s growing reputation for hosting successful amateur athletic events and the strength of the local organizing committee, led by the Buffalo Swimkins, resulted in the national site selection committee’s decision to bring this event to Buffalo Niagara.
“The more than 1,000 attendees will boost the local economy by $1million and will account for 2,000 hotel room nights,” added Giglia.
“We’re thrilled that we were successful in bidding to host this exciting event,” said Mary Ellen Weigand, United States Synchronized Swimming Eastern Zone President and site selection chairman. “This event will help to boost the local economy as well as membership in the Niagara Association synchronized swim clubs of Western New York.”
The last time that the Buffalo Niagara region hosted this event was during the summer of 1998.
The Buffalo Niagara Convention & Visitors Bureau, as the marketing leader of the Buffalo Niagara hospitality industry, promotes our region worldwide as a convention, amateur athletics, tourism, leisure and business destination for the economic benefit of the community.
